As a young child Gene contacted Polio and spent 2 years wearing braces and walking on crutches. Gene did make a full recovery. Gene was a rebellious child. He spent spent some time living with father Gene Sr. in Las Vegas NV as well as a couple of foster homes. In 1965 Gene joined the Army in an effort to change the direction of his life. As all Hunters, Gene enjoyed a good belly laugh, and he goes to great lengths to cause them. He took great pride in spinning a good yarn then setting the hook. Gene was an avid sports fan and while raising his family he enjoyed boating and water skiing with his family until he partying made him lose that family. He did a tour of duty in The Dominican Republic and a tour in Viet Nam. After receiving an honorable discharge, Gene became an Optician, a career in which he excelled. He owned a retail optical outlet in Santa Maria CA that he sold to start a wholesale optical lab in San Luis Obispo CA. He later went to work for some large national optical chains in which Gene as a regional manager of the Southern CA region, he set up and started all new locations. Later in life Gene blamed his drug addiction on Post Traumatic Stress from Viet Nam but that was just an excuse he used to bilk the government out of disability money as he was a heavy drug user and alcholic befere he went into the service. In 1997 Gene got terribly addicted to meth and his life spun out of control he died of an overdose at 60 years old in 2008. |
