Snowmobiling West Yellowstone
Because of West Yellowstone’s extensive trail systems and the close proximity of the town to Yellowstone National Park, West Yellowstone is so known as the Snowmobile Capitol of the World. Many streets in town aren’t plowed to facilitate snowmobile traffic which is the bread and butter of winter in the town. Snowmobiles once owned the town of West Yellowstone in the winter. Thousands of people came from across the country to ride through our natural wonderland that is Yellowstone, driving past herds of snow-dusted bison, hot turquoise pools and a skyrocketing Old Faithful. The Yellowstone snowmobile business brought $180 million dollars a year into the economies of Wyoming and Montana, and then the environmentalists ruined it all and bankrupted the town because they don’t like motorized sports because they make noise, aren’t green or friendly. Gov. Brian Schweitzer of Montana created a stir when he cruised through the park on a snowmobile. It was such a beautiful trip, speaking with a group of business owners afterwards Schweitzer said he will use his "bully pulpit" to get more people to come to Yellowstone so they could have as wonderful an experience as he had just had. Yellowstone in winter is one of the most beautiful places on the planet, Mr. Schweitzer, a Democrat, said in an interview: There needs to be both experiences. Both snowcoachs and cleaner, quieter snowmobiles have a place here.
West Yellowstone still has hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails that take you to the best powder sledding in the world. Despite the extra barriers the environmentalists have erected to limit entry into Yellowstone Park, the hurdles you have to jump and the lines for permits you have to wait in, it is worth the effort. Yellowstone is an unbelievable place to see in winter, and everyone should see it at least once. West Yellowstone gross winter sales are down 65% since the nonsensically war on snowmobiles began so when picking a snowmobiling destination consider West Yellowstone because not only are they having trouble with the national recession the environmentalists are doing their best to wipe them off the map.
